Canon Characters

Being an AU, The Burning Light takes place in an offshoot of the Warriors universe thirty years after the events of The Darkest Hour go wrong. The cast from the original books, to some extent, still exist and this is a full list explaining their fates.

ThunderClan

One-eye, unlike Smallear, accepted Ravenpaw and Barley's shelter in the barn. Being old and frail and without the aid of a medicine cat, she caught greencough and died that leaf-bare.

Smallear, being an elder, decided to remain in the forest territories after they were forced to leave their home. Though Ravenpaw and Barley offered shelter in the barn, he initially rejected it until One-eye pressured him to stay alongside her. Smallear caught greencough later that same leaf-bare and died.

Dappletail was among the group of elders that were able to make the journey to their new home. Sadly, Dappletail was among the group of cats who died in the large greencough outbreak in the clan's second leaf-bare at the lake.

Speckletail was the longest living of the original group of ThunderClan's forest territory elders. During the clan's fourth leaf-bare around the lake she died of greencough in another outbreak.

Goldenflower was tragically killed in the badger attack that occured not long after the clans relocated to the lake. Due to the fact they hadn't met Midnight, the clans are never warned ahead of time and thus more cats are killed; Goldenflower having been among them.

Frostfur shared a similar fate to Goldenflower, having been killed in the badger attack.

Willowpelt dies of greencough in the clan's fourth leaf-bare around the lake.

Mousefur was elected deputy after Longtail died of greencough. She was grateful for Longtail's request, but she knew this wasn't a job she could handle for very long, especially not at her age. She decided to retire to the elders den not long after gaining the rank and died of greencough two leaf-bares after Longtail's death.

Longtail was the first of ThunderClan's warriors to be untrusting of Graystripe's sudden rank as deputy after the battle of BloodClan. Hardly anyone witnessed Whitestorm's death, and fewer cats were there to see Firestar name Graystripe as his new deputy. To calm his suspicions, Graystripe picked Longtail to be his first deputy. Eventually, Longtail grew to be trusting of Graystar and served his rank as well as any cat could for quite some time. Longtail would sadly die in the same greencough outbreak that killed Speckletail and Willowpelt. As he lay dying however, he requested that Graystar name his companion Mousefur as his successor, which Graystar honored.

Firestar was killed in the battle of BloodClan by Scourge, still remembered as legend in the modern day.

Graystripe succeeded Firestar as leader of ThunderClan as he had just been made deputy during the battle against BloodClan. He became Graystar and served as ThunderClan's leader for many years after that. Years later, Graystar lost his final life to greencough.

Sandstorm never took a mate after Firestar's death, but still lived a long life as a warrior. Ultimately, she retired to the elders den and died of greencough some time later.

Dustpelt was one of the first casualties of the long-running territory dispute between ThunderClan and ShadowClan. Though he still fathered his three litters of kits with Fernspeckle, he dies prior to Foxswipe and Icepelt's warrior ceremonies.

Ravenpaw and Barley initially tried to remain at the barn in the forest territories, but BloodClan's increased aggression towards them resulted in the tough decision to leave the barn entirely. They found their way to the lake and moved into the horseplace alongside Daisy, Smoky, and Floss. Moons later, Ravenpaw and Barley adopted an abandoned kit and raised him as their son. Eventually their son decided to join ThunderClan where he took the name Darkflame. Ravenpaw dies of liver cancer, as he does in canon, and Barley dies of old age many mooons later. Crowfrost and Nightsong are two of many of their son's living descendants in ThunderClan.

Cinderpelt remained as ThunderClan's medicine cat after they were forced to abandon the forest territories. She ends up surviving the badger attack and moons later, she gained her first and only apprentice, Dewspots, who would go onto succeed her. Cinderpelt ultimately dies due to an infected wound.

Brackenfur lived the majority of his life similarly to how he did in canon. He became mates with Sorrelpelt and fathered Honeyheart, Cinderstripe, Poppybloom, Molefoot, Lilytail, and Seedpelt. The largest change in his life is the fact he was elected as Graystar's third deputy after Mousefur retired to the elders den. He was the one to succeed Graystar as leader, gaining the name Brackenstar, though he only served as leader for approximately two years, losing his final life to injuries recieved in a battle against ShadowClan. Sweetflower and her kits, Coppershine and Leopardbreeze, are among Brackenstar and Sorrelpelt's many living descendants in ThunderClan.

Brightheart lived a long and fulfilling life alongside her mate, Cloudtail. The two had four kits, Whitecloud, Ambershine, Snowfall, and Dewspots and eventually retired to the elders den together. The two both died of old age about eleven years after the clans relocated to the lake.

Thornclaw at some point, fell in love and became mates with Feathertail, Graystar's daughter. The two would go onto have two kits together, Wolftuft and Fawnstep, before Thornclaw died in one of the many battles against ShadowClan.

Ashfur ended up being named Ashfall by Graystar and was later a casualty of the first territory dispute between ThunderClan and ShadowClan alongside Dustpelt.

Ferncloud was named Fernspeckle by Graystar at her warrior ceremony. She still became mates with Dustpelt and was the mother to their kits, Spiderclaw, Shrewstep, Birchstripe, Hollyleap, Larchbloom, Foxswipe, and Icepelt. Despite the loss of Dustpelt earlier in her life, Fernspeckle eventually retired to the elders den and died of age related health issues ten years after the clans moved to the lake.

Cloudtail lived a long and fulfilling life alongside his mate, Brightheart. The two had four kits, Whitecloud, Ambershine, Snowfall, and Dewspots and eventually retired to the elders den together. The two both died of old age about eleven years after the clans relocated to the lake.

Brambleclaw was named Brambleheart by Graystar at his warrior ceremony, in honor of Firestar. Six years after the clans relocated to the lake, an intense flood displaced the clans and many of the local kittypets, rogues, and loners; one of these cats being a kittypet named Jessy. The two grew close and eventually, Jessy was expecting a litter of kits. Though Brambleheart tried to convince her to join ThunderClan, she decided against it. Eventually, once the kits were older, the three decided they wanted to become warriors like their father and were brought into the clan. Brambleheart never explained where they came from, but it was obvious the kits were his own. Eventually, Brambleheart retired to the elders den and died of old age and dimentia fourteen years after the clans relocated to the lake.

Feathertail was, surpisingly named the same name in canon at her warrior ceremony. After the battle of BloodClan she decided to rejoin ThunderClan alongside her brother, Stormsky. She later became mates with the ThunderClan warrior, Thornclaw and they had two kits together, Wolftuft and Fawnstep. She eventually retired to the elders den and died from an unidentified illness ten years after the clans relocated to the lake.

Stormfur was named Stormsky by Graystar at his warrior ceremony.

Sorreltail was named Sorrelpelt by Graystar at her warrior ceremony, named after her mother Willowpelt.

Rainwhisker sadly didn't live to adulthood like he does in canon. Rainkit was killed in the badger attack alongside Goldenflower and Frostfur.

Sootfur was named Sootstorm by Graystar at his warrior ceremony, named after his father Whitestorm.
